JumpStart BandMusic and ArtsJump Start Beginning Band Summer Camp June 8-19 (M-F) 9:00-10:10am Jump Start Beginning Band is available to any student entering 5th–7th grade who has never played a band instrument or who is wanting to learn a new instrument. Jumpstart Band is designed to give students the opportunity to learn some of the basic skills needed to play an instrument of your choice before the school year starts. Being a part of your school band is extremely rewarding and fun to do! This program will help you get a head start. During the program, students will learn; Instrument assembly, proper hand position, proper playing position, embouchure (mouth) formation, characteristic tone, basic music reading skills. Other Benefits: guaranteed first choice instrument in band, leader in band, gives students an idea of what band consists of before committing an entire school year. Storybook Adventure CampMusic and ArtsStories & Crafts Camp Join us for a fun and creative 5-day Stories & Crafts Camp! Each day, students will enjoy engaging, theme-based stories followed by hands-on craft activities inspired by what they’ve read. This camp is designed to spark imagination, creativity, and a love for storytelling through art. Campers will explore a variety of creative skills, including paper crafting (cutting, folding, and gluing), painting techniques using brushes, sponges, and mixed media, and drawing and illustration to bring characters and scenes to life. Students will also design and create their own puppets, masks, and characters, as well as build imaginative worlds through map making and sign design. Using materials like cardboard, natural items, and recycled supplies, campers will dive into 3D construction and model-building, developing their creativity through mixed-material crafting. Throughout the week, students will practice creative problem-solving and design thinking as they plan, design, and build their own unique projects. This camp is perfect for young creators who love stories, art, and bringing their ideas to life in fun and imaginative ways! Summer "Smash the Trash"Music and ArtsDoes your child like to drum and make cool beats? This is the camp for them! We will learn basic drumming skills while making amazing beats with trash cans and buckets! Please note-if your child is in 4th, 5th or 6th grade and has NOT been in trash can band (or done percussion in band), please sign up for the BEGINNER class. Summer OrchestraMusic and ArtsJumpstart Orchestra, 2-week course for current 4th-5th graders. who have not taken orchestra before. Focuses on the basics of instrument technique, instrument care, rhythm, and note reading along with learning some beginning songs on your instruments Intermediate orchestra, 2-week course for current 5th and 6th graders that have already taken beginning orchestra for one year. Focus on mastering the basic positions of all four strings of your instrument along with some extensions and low second fingers. We will be reviewing concepts taught in 5th and 6th grade and learn some fun music together.
